"City of Keene" v. "Robin Hood" – Day 1

On Monday, August 12, the “Evidentiary” hearing for the lawsuit filed by the “City of Keene” against six individuals collectively dubbed “Robin Hood” went down at “Superior” court in Keene. As the title of this post indicates, it was the first of what may be three or four days in legaland. The next date, which won’t happen in the next few weeks due to a full docket, is still to be determined.

Those of us named as “Robin Hood” were told be be present at 9am. We didn’t exit legaland until 4pm.

The “City of Keene” called parking enforcement officer (PEO) Linda “Lynn” Desruisseaux, counselor Mary Kimmel (who, while testifying, was getting paid 225FRNs/hour from the “City of Keene”), and former PEO Alan Givetz (who only got through part of his testimony – that which related to me, Pete Eyre). I then testified (as I had informed those present that the next day I was to leave the ‘shire for an extended period of time per the Police Accountability Tour).

When wrapping-up for the day both myself and John Meyer, who is representing the five other co-defendants, motioned to have my name removed from the injunction as there was no factual evidence to support my inclusion in the frivolous suit. Charles Bauer – the Concord-based lawyer hired by the “City of Keene”, was told he had 10days to respond.

Yes Thomas Mullins, Reputation is Important

Solidarity-sunset3-copblockYesterday – July 18th – was Chalk the Police State in solidarity with the “Sunset 3” who, in June, were arrested by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department employees for using children’s chalk to write pro-police accountability statements on the public sidewalk.

As Kelly Patterson wrote:

on June 8th, I along with two other members of the Sunset Activist Collective were cited during a Nevada Cop Block monthly protest for “graffiti” while listing the crimes and paying tribute to the many victims of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. After nine months of “Second Saturdays” and other events calling for the accountability that is sorely missing within Las Vegas area police departments, we were told by a “graffiti expert” that drawing with chalk on a sidewalk is now illegal, in spite of us having been explicitly told by some of his own co-workers that sidewalk chalk is in fact legal previously.

Among other things – Patterson and his colleagues hope to draw attention to the fact that no LVMPD employee involved in a shooting has ever been found to be in the wrong. Zero. That, of course, is the accountability had when its said to be provided via internal investigations.

Hearing held in Keene for Robin Hooders [short & raw video]

In early May 2013 the “City of Keene” filed a preliminary injunction against six individuals, hoping to establish a 50′ anti-freedom zone around parking enforcement employees (part of the Keene Police Department). The six individuals all filed written responses and on June 11, 2013 appeared in “Superior Court” for a hearing.

The man in the black robe, John Kissinger, told the six individuals and Thomas Mullins, the lawyer for the “City of Keene, that they had 20 days to submit more info about the related constitutional arguments and that a full-day hearing would be scheduled at a later date – possibly in August – unless he first dismissed the injunction.

7,000+ Pages of Keene Meter Maid Activities

If you live, work, or travel through Keene, chances are you’ve spied the ongoing efforts of those involved with Robin Hooding.

From KeeneCopBlock.org/RobinHood:

Keene Copblockers engage in Robin Hooding to rescue others in the community from being ransomed by Keene’s “parking enforcers.”

Whenever someone’s meter is expired, a coin is placed into the meter to extend the person’s time, especially if it is in the direct path of the individual working for the Bureau of Parking Enforcement. Usually a long nickle is sufficient. Often, if time allows, a Copblocker will walk in front of the would be ransom-issuer (while attempting conversation), depositing a coin in each expired meter along the way. This has proven to be an effective deterrent.

From RobinHood.FreeKeene.com:

In late December I submitted a 91A request (New Hampshire’s Freedom of Information Act) to obtain records of meter maid activities.

Eventually, one FRN was given to Bill Dow for a CD with over 7,000 pages of records that list the type, location, time and date of all tickets given from January 1st, 2010 to December 31st, 2012 (yes, people were given tickets on New Year and New Years Eve).

It’s shared here for transparency.
